Are you looking for new ways to spice up your kitchen?
We have some colourful kitchen remodeling ideas.
While sheer white kitchens are popular for smaller rooms, making the space feel larger and brighter by reflecting natural light, some of you might be seeking more of a warm and cheery atmosphere.
That’s why we are starting our Themed Kitchen Transformations Series with the colour yellow, a colour that might just become your favourite.
Known as the colour of happiness, optimism and enlightenment, yellow is usually used as an accent to liven an outfit, thrown into a bouquet or used in art forms such as paintings and pottery but it is usually not the first colour of choice when planning for a kitchen remodelling project.
Fortunately, yellow comes in many shades and tones that are far from overwhelming. Adding a pop of colour to a kitchen can be done through various elements when considering a kitchen makeover.
From the walls, floors and ceiling to cabinet surfaces, appliances and furniture, using colour can be done in a subtle or blatant manor, depending on your likes.
Our tip: Mix yellow with white and grey for a clean, calming effect. We always recommend selecting the granite benchtop color in combination with the theme of the kitchen.
Yellow Kitchen Walls and Painted Kitchen Cabinets
Using yellow for your kitchen design is tricky if you want it to be the main colour, but mixing it into the kitchen elements to brighten the room is much easier. Walls and cabinetry are known to set the tone of the room, so one way to update a kitchen with an existing white décor is to paint an accent wall with a bright yellow.
You can also opt for the two-toned effect for standing kitchen cabinets by painting the upper or lower cabinet doors. Using grey and black granite benchtops and hardwood floors helps balance the bright yellow of kitchen cabinets with earthy tones for this kitchen.
Bright Mosaic Tile
Brightly coloured mosaic tiles do the trick as well, and can be paired nicely with neutral kitchen benchtops. Granite Transformations has several honey shades of mosaic tiles that would create a great accent for your kitchen.
Yellow Kitchen Accessories
If you are not ready for a complete yellow makeover for your kitchen, don’t fret!
It’s easy to accessorize with yellow elements, from lamps and kitchen chairs to décor elements and appliances.
Why not consider using yellow in your next remodelling project!!
While we appreciate the beauty of ordinary granite, Mother Nature certainly didn’t foresee the demands of modern lifestyle when creating its mineral wonders. If you are a passionate chef or love to enjoy a glass of Frédéric Magnien Bourgogne Pinot Noir in your kitchen, you are probably familiar with the stains that red sauces and wines can leave behind on ordinary granite countertops.
There are times when plain granite just won’t work. That’s why our engineered stone benchtops, a perfect combination of nature and technology, are wonderful alternatives to granite benchtops. Easy to maintain, scratch and stain resistant, our engineered stone, made from a combination of granite, stone and quartz, retains its beauty for years and is almost maintenance-free. Quartz benchtops have the added benefit of more consistent colours and patterns.
Engineered stone is ideal for surfaces in all rooms of the home such as kitchen benchtops, shower walls, bathroom vanities, floors and fireplaces. Engineered stone benchtops have four times the flexural strength and double the impact resistance of granite while impressively outperforming regular granite.
The basics: Engineered stone is a man-made product formed from the world’s finest granite, stone and quartz. Available are upwards of 30 colours from sandy cream to earthy linen.
Pros: Engineered stone is made durable thanks to quartz. Quartz is a mineral that is tough like granite but malleable and impact resistant. Unlike ordinary granite, engineered stone slabs are nonporous—resistant to stains and scratches. This material has a leg up on natural stone when it comes to installations. It is much easier to install without the demolition and headaches associated with ordinary slab granite.
Maintenance: Our engineered stone overlays require no sealants or waxes (either initially or for ongoing upkeep). Routine clean-up is a breeze with soap and water.
